You’ll see how to remove your lawn, concrete or water-hogging plants in order to create space for a native habitat with color and texture year round. Whether you have a full sun exposure or the dappled shade of a street tree, you’ll find plenty of plant combinations that will work for your garden. This is an easy project for anyone who wants to try their hand at growing native plants for the first time.
Carrie Jensen is a landscape designer with H.T. Harvey and Associates who specializes in native pants and habitat restoration. She is also an active member of the Santa Clara Basin Watershed Management Initiative - Land Use Subgroup and is currently collaborating on a county-wide “Grey2Green Program” with Our City Forest, a San Jose- based urban forestry non-profit.
