SUMMARY:Native Plant ID
LOCATION:Peninsula Conservation Center (PCC)\, 3921 E. Bayshore Road in Palo Alto
DESCRIPTION:Native Plant ID (formerly Keying with Natives) is a Chapter group that work
s together to learn plant identification using botanical keys and other res

d practice methods of identifying the native plants of our region. Feel fre

use the current edition of The Jepson Manual as well as other plant guides,
and we have copies to share. The Chapter has 10x hand lenses that we can u
se to look at small plant parts or bring your own lens. Also bring any refe
rence books that you like to use.\nOn Tuesday, January 27, Bruce Homer-Smit
h will present an introduction to plants of the redwood forest. Bring sampl
es of redwood forest plants that you are interested in identifying from pro
perty where you have permission to collect. We are planning a follow-up fie
ld trip at a date to be determined after the class.\nAt our Tuesday, Februa
ry 24 session we will revisit the genus Arctostaphylos (manzanitas) and hop
efully schedule a field trip to look at some Arctostaphylos in the field. A
ny species (preferably not hybrid) Arctostaphylos samples will be appreciat

ch month. Join other native plant enthusiasts in a fun and educational atmo
