CATEGORIES:Native Plant Talks
CREATED:20230227T125943
SUMMARY:Gardening for Native Bees
LOCATION:Sunnyvale Library Community Room\, 665 West Olive Ave.\, Sunnyvale
DESCRIPTION:THIS TALK IS IN-PERSON. IT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ONLINE. Sunnyvale Library
Program Room, 665 West Olive Ave., Sunnyvale\nWe all know about the Europea
n honey bee, but what about the native bees that live here in the Santa Cla
ra Valley? These local insects help pollinate our ornamental and edible pla
nts too! Once you know what to look for, you’ll see over a dozen bee specie
s that live in our urban setting – especially among locally-growing native
plants. Find out how planting even a few select natives can enrich your gar
den and attract even more native (and honey) bees.\nJohn Kehoe is a longtim
e member of CNPS, iNaturalist and The Xerces Society. He is a regular volun
teer at assorted Grassroots Ecology events as well as at various CNPS funct
ions. His research interests include studying biodiversity, especially nati
ve bee ecology. He shares these interests by way of his photography on iNat
uralist and Flickr. \nThe talk is free and registration is not required.\nI
f you can't make the talk, you can view a recording of one he gave for us a
