Requirements to Apply

  • Any student who is enrolled in a Horticulture program, and either lives in or is studying in an accredited college in our chapter area (South San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, and West Stanislaus County).
  • The student has completed at least 8 units in the horticulture program.
  • The student has already taken or about to take a plant identification class focused on California native plants.
  • The student has a minimum cumulative 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • One letter of recommendation from the Horticulture Program Director.
  • Two additional letters of recommendation: one from an academic teacher, and the second from either a teacher or another program leader (can be from a volunteer program). 
  • Recipient be willing to meet with a representative from the CNPS SCV chapter to learn ways to connect with the chapter and use chapter activities to enhance their career path. The recipient be also willing to attend one CNPS chapter program meeting to introduce themself or if unable to attend, record a short video, or contribute a short article of introduction in the chapter newsletter, The Blazing Star.

Application Process 

  • Fill in the online form, APPLICATION CLOSED.
  • Send a sealed official transcript from your college (copies or unsealed transcript not accepted) to the address below, and
  • Original sealed letters of recommendations should be sent directly to our office, postmarked by January 31, 2022:
