The California Native Garden project in Lake Cunningham Regional Park controls invasive plants in a 1.5-acre area and b eautifies it with California native wildflowers, perennials, shrubs and tre es.\n For 2021 the project’s priorities include installing irrigation in th e meadow, planting small shrubs and perennials in open spaces, and continui ng hand watering, weeding and mulching. We’ll continue stinkwort removal an d monitor knapweed and pepperweed and request spraying if needed.\nWe thank our individual volunteers and two volunteer groups who provided participan ts this year, CNPS and Silicon Valley Volunteers. We also thank park staff for their great support, including fixing water leaks, making mulch piles a vailable where and when needed, and making tools readily available for us.\ nWorkdays continue Saturdays 8:00 - 10:00am.
