Think that spring is the only time California native plants are in bloom? Think again. Find out about the great buckwheats, California fuchsias, other drought-tolerant natives that happily provide a bevy of blooms all through the hot, dry summer and on into the fall. See how to transition seamlessly from the abundance of spring into an equally spectacular flowering towards the middle and end of the year.

Pete Veilleux is a master designer, nurseryman, and photographer. He creates gardens using native plants for long-lasting landscapes that help people get the maximum use and pleasure from their patch of earth. He is the owner and propagator of East Bay Wilds Native Plant Nursery (www.eastbaywilds.com) in Oakland and is a tireless advocate of native gardening.
