Join consultants Jeffrey Caldwell, Jana Sokale, and local enthusiast Deborah Jamison on sections of Stevens Creek that were recently restored by the City of Cupertino. The restoration included re-aligning the creek, creating floodplain benches and overflow channels, removing fish barriers, adding fish-friendly elements and planting thousands of native riparian and oak woodland plants. Over 70 watershed-specific species were installed within the creek corridor. This will be a great trip for native plant enthusiasts to see what can be done to restore native habitats.
The walk is about 2.5-miles out and back from the trailhead. Bring water, hat, lunch and snacks. There are picnic tables in Blackberry Farm and McClellan Ranch, and we can use this time to share background information on how this all came about.
