Join Ken Himes and Judy Fenerty in exploring the Red Hills Area of Critical Environmental Concern – a BLM preserve near Sonora. About two hours from the Bay Area, this special area of serpentine habitat hosts one of the best spring flowering displays in the Sierra foothills. Expect at least 5 miles of hiking on uneven terrain.
You may join us on this hike as a day trip and carpooling is encouraged. We are also considering making a weekend of it, with botanical exploration in the foothills on Saturday, April 8. Camping would be about 10 miles away from the Red Hills entrance.
